Vampire Weekend’s third album will be released on Tuesday, May 14th.
Formed in 2006, the indie-rock band consists of four members who all met during their time at Columbia University.
They were put on the map after performing at battle of the bands in school and eventually opened up for The Shins on a tour.
“Vampire Weekend,” the same name as their band, was their first album release in 2008, shortly followed by “Contra” in 2010 and their newest album will be entitled, “Modern Vampires of the Ya” features the band popping champagne bottles opposite the Empire State Building.
Since the band formed in New York, the theme of the city and the Northeast is ever present throughout each of their albums.
Weirdly enough Chris Tomson is related to “Boardwalk Empire’s” Steve Buscemi.
Buscemi directed the band’s hometown concert and has started a web series with them.
