SMU hits road to take on Wolfpack
After kicking a struggling Hawaii team when it was down, SMU (12-9, 7-4) hopes to continue its success when it battles Nevada (13-8, 8-3) in Reno tonight.
Nevada is only 1.5 games behind Fresno State for the top spot in the conference. Nevada is undefeated at home and has won eight of its last nine games.
The bright spot is that the lone loss came to SMU at Moody Coliseum. However, Nevada is probably the hottest team in the conference, having beaten Fresno State 92-79 in Fresno.
SMU has had its problems on the road, like most of the better teams in the conference. The key to winning the WAC is how you perform at home, and the Mustangs hope to hurt Nevada’s chances of catching Fresno State.
The game tips off at 9:05 p.m.
After Nevada, SMU faces Fresno State in what promises to be its most difficult road swing of the season.
Lady Mustangs return home
SMU returns home from a challenging 1-3 road trip tonight to face Nevada. The Mustangs (12-9, 6-5 WAC) are in a three-way tie for fourth place in the conference, while Nevada (8-13, 1-10) dwells at 10th.
The match-up pits a strength against a weakness. SMU is 7-2 in Moody Coliseum and Nevada has yet to win a game on the road.
Junior guard Andrea Cossey looks to rebound from her worst scoring output of the season. She scored only six points, less than half of her 14.0 average. The total tied her season low.
Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. at Moody Coliseum.
