Weckiewicz found unharmed in Downtown Dallas library
Missing first year student Alexander Weckiewicz was found unharmed last Friday in the Downtown Dallas Public Library.
Weckiewicz was missing for eight days before being found. While missing, he spent his days in the downtown library and nights in local homeless shelters.
According to SMU Police Chief Michael Snellgrove, a librarian spotted Weckiewicz early Friday morning after recognizing him from a television report.
“Everyone played their role and the situation ended with him coming back unharmed. The media did their job by putting out the information, and the public called in tips that led us to his location,” Snellgrove said.
Weckiewicz was placed in the custody of SMU Police until his parents arrived mid-Friday and took him home to The Woodlands, a suburb of Houston.
Weckiewicz was “very shaken” according to Snellgrove and only wanted to speak with his parents about the situation.
According the Weckiewicz’s private investigator Douglas Crewse, the parents do not plan on rushing Alexander back to school. They will have him undergo counseling and decide afterwards whether he will return to SMU.
