SMU golfer Colt Knost tied for first place with Stanford’s Zack Miller at the Gopher Invitational held in Wayzata, Minn. this weekend. Knost, a senior, went 2-under-par 214 and shot a tournament-low 67 in round two.
The Mustangs (896) took third place as a team, falling behind Stanford (889) and Minnesota (894). SMU defeated other nationally ranked teams including Notre Dame, Northwestern and Ohio State.
Senior Brandon DeStefano also tied for fifth place after shooting a 220 in the tournament. Two SMU golfers, senior Scott Sikes and junior James Minahan, tied each other for 34th place.
Mustang golf heads to Birmingham, Ala. on Monday Sept. 25, to participate in the Shoal Creek Intercollegiate tournament.
