Don’t know what to do with your old prom dresses?
SMU Panhellenic joined the Dallas Junior League this year in sponsoring a prom dress drive the first week of January for North Dallas High School girls.
“Project Prom” began as a way for SMU women to help less fortunate Dallas area high school girls attend their prom.
“I have loved being able to organize a project that will help young women feel beautiful on their special prom night,” said Chandler Rice, SMU Junior and Panhellenic Coordinator of Community Affairs.
First year women going through recruitment and SMU Greek women were notified to bring old prom dresses back to school after the Christmas break.
“It is a wonderful way for the Greek women to give back to the community,” said Audrey Means, Chi Omega’s Panhellenic representative.
Although this project is new to SMU, students have expressed interest in participating.
“I am so glad that we are doing this,” said SMU Sophomore Chi Omega Julie Sinacola. “I am glad that they will be put to good use and won’t just sit in my closet.”
Rice will collect the dresses on January 4th and 5th. Any unused dresses will be donated to local charities, which have yet to be decided.
