SMU’s head coach Rhonda Rompola announced the signing of two recruits for fall 2007.
Haley Day is a senior at Rockwall High School in Rockwall and LaShondra Hill is a senior at Dunbar High School in Fort Worth.
Day is a 5’10” forward who averaged 16.2 points per game in junior year. Day’s Rockwall Yellow Jackets reached the state finals, but lost to Plano West. Day was named to the all-tournament Team, was district MVP, a 2006 TABC all-state member and a two-time member of the TGCA all-state team.
Hill, a 5’6″ point guard, averaged 16 points and 4.5 assists a game. Receiving first team all-state, all-region, all-district and the offensive player of the year last season Hill has taken her fair share of accolades.
Hill was a member of the state championship team her sophomore year.
The women’s basketball team won both of their exhibition games by an average of 22.5 points.
The Mustangs will open their season on Sunday in Moody against University of Texas-San Antonio at 7 p.m.
