In the Oct. 2 issue of The Daily Campus a story entitled “Study abroad may join curriculum requirements” stated that the university considers education for enhanced global understanding so important that SMU wants to increase its emphasis on international studies both on campus and abroad, and plans are underway for enhancing the study abroad offerings and opportunities at SMU. Students are encouraged to study abroad, however making it mandatory is not an option. Nina Flournoy’s personal wish is for every student to have a study abroad experience, not for a future campus requirement. The Daily Campus regrets the error.
