Playboy’s current ploy presents a potential misfortune because not only would the woman herself be exploited, but the name of SMU and her students would be treacherously shamed as well.
As revealed by yesterday’s article, Playboy has solicited the women of this university to come and reveal themselves in ways that will surely leave them with long-term shame and regret.
I pray and hope that there will not be any young woman willing to subjugate herself to such dissolution and effectively sell her God-given-beauty so that men across this nation can fantasize over her nakedness. Oh, that she would be reminded of the husband and children to whom she will one day devote her life, and that she would be able to stand upon today’s morally right judgment with joy and avoid the unnecessary future pain of regret rooted in Playboy’s offer.
Although, at the core of this exhibition exists an even greater indignity. When we survey our culture and our institutions of higher learning, what can we gather from this event?
College students in today’s world are trendsetters and what values we preserve or destroy here shall remain with us and our society for life. Is it not our responsibility to promote our community while simultaneously choosing favorable individual action?
I am referring to decency and righteous deeds-where is our shame?
Make no mistake, friends, the message our women send here shall soundly prove the state of our university’s integrity as either morally bankrupt or as one last bastion of sensibility.
For the sake of shame,
Russell Allsup
