Justin Rogers has been a fixture on the SMU defensive line since he came to Dallas. After sitting out his freshman year with a redshirt, Rogers played in all 12 games in 2003 and started two of them.
In his sophomore season, Rogers started the first nine games, and tied for the team lead in sacks with 2.5 even though he missed the last two games due to injury.
Before the season began, Rogers was named an honorable mention All-American and to the All-Conference-USA team.
On Tuesday Rogers was named to the Hendricks Award watch list. The Hendricks Award is given to the best defensive end in collegiate football.
Ted Hendricks was a three time All-American defensive end at the University of Miami. Last years winner was Elvis Dumervil from the University of Louisville.
The Greenville native is one of 28 players named to the list. The list will be narrowed down to six in November and the winner will be announced on Dec. 4.
