The SMU women’s basketball team lost its second straight Conference USA game Sunday afternoon at Tulsa. The Golden Hurricane shot its way to a 74-55 win.
The Mustangs got another strong performance from Jillian Samuels, who lead the team with 17 points, along with Janielle Dodds and Delisha Wills, who each tacked on 11 points of their own. Brittany Gilliam rounded out the double-digit scorers with 10 points off the bench.
The problem for SMU was stopping the Golden Hurricane from scoring. Tulsa shot 45 percent in the first half and followed that up with 68 percent shooting in the second half. Compared to the Mustangs’ 24 percent and 38 percent shooting, Tulsa cruised to victory.
SMU is now 3-3 in the conference and 11-7 for the season.
The Mustangs will try to get back on track Thursday night in Houston to take on the Rice Owls.
