The Hughes-Trigg Varsity came alive Tuesday night as SMUstudents participated in Mustang Marathon’s annual DateAuction fundraiser for two charity organizations —Bryan’s House and the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDSFoundation. The event raised an estimated $700.
The evening’s host, Shelley Young, encouraged bidders asshe yelled, “Look at that rear!” and “Come on,your shoes cost five times that!”
Paxton Parker, a junior Beta Theta Pi fraternity member, broughtin the highest bid, sold to a group of girls for $72. Otherparticipants sold for prices ranging from $30 to $70, a drop fromprevious years when participants sold for as much as $400 each.
Along with a date, winning bidders received coupons for MarbleSlab and JD’s Chippery, movie tickets and coupons for freeappetizers at T.G.I Friday’s and Chili’srestaurants.
