The SMU equestrian team hosts rival TCU in Mansfield, Tex., at 10 a.m. Saturday.
The Mustangs are 2-0 at home this season and hold a 2-1 all-time record against the Horned Frogs.
Freshmen Emily Gardner and Jordyn Pettersen will both compete with injuries. The Mustangs will have junior captain Kristen Collins and recent MVP on the flats against Sacred Heart. Erica Buie will also compete this weekend.
The last time these two teams met, the Mustangs fell in a close battle at 8-4. Collins was awarded MVP in equitation on the flat.
“Coming off a 2-0 record at home, the Mustangs hope to maintain a clear mind set,” said head coach Ashley Schaeffer.
“Having a tough competitor in the backyard is good for the girls. I’m just looking for them to have fun and keep their focus.”
SMU comes into this weekend’s match with a 3-7 overall record.
