Thursday night the Dallas-Ft. Worth NBC affiliate, KXAS, alleged that an SMU student reported being drugged by an instructor.
In an official report released by the university on Friday, SMU corrected the report saying that the man accused is not on staff.
He has, however, been asked by SMU officials not to come onto the campus, and has complied.
According to NBC’s report, the student claims she was over at the accused’s house working on a project when she was strongly urged to drink a glass of wine.
After drinking the wine, she said she felt sick and took a taxi home and on her way home she stopped at a local hospital.
There her blood was checked and tested positive for the presence of opiates.
SMU’s statement goes on to say that the student notified SMU police following the incident and was referred to the Office of Student Affairs.
After that, the incident was referred to the Dallas Police Department, which will continue the investigation.
SMUPD will continue to help in any way they can.
