Qu’est-ce que tu fais ce soir? That’s French for “What are you doing tonight?”
The 13th Annual French Film Festival continues with its showing of “No le dis a personne” (Tell No One) at 7 p.m. in the Hughes-Trigg Theater.
The film festival started last Friday and will continue with showings until April 2.
According to Freddie Akers, the president of the SMU French Club, the campus organization received a generous grant through the French American Cultural Exchange in order to host this year’s film festival.
The club chose these particular films since “France produces a lot of good works,” he said.
The film festival is not only a way for the French Club to showcase great foreign films, it also serves as an outlet for SMU to show they are a part of the Dallas community, Akers commented.
Last semester, the SMU French Club hosted a French cheese tasting event and a workshop titled “Putting Your French to Work” aimed at educating students on using their learned language to the best advantage in the workplace.
The movie tonight, “No le dis a personne”, is a psychological thriller in which a man named Alex is searching for the murderer of his late wife, Margot. His wife was thought to be dead for some time. However, an e-mail sent to Alex containing a live video including Margot seems to prove otherwise.
Alex then begins a search for his wife with the local police reopening the investigation, and the authorities ultimately think Alex was his wife’s murderer.
All films shown are free, open to the public and in French with English subtitles. Some of the films are not intended for young children, since they contain adult themes and innuendos.
