Women’s golf struggles at UCF

The SMU women’s golf team suffered through some hardships in the UCF Challenge in Orlando, Fla.

The Mustangs played without three of the top five members of the team and finished 13th out of 13 teams.

Kate Ackerson was the top Mustangs finisher with a 10-over par that placed her in 20th place out of 73 players.

Lacy Jones, Ashley Deatherage, Kristina Rothengatter and Whitney Eckert finished 46th, 65th, 65th and 72nd.

The Mustangs’ third and final round was their best round of the tournament ,as they lowered their score by 14 and 13 strokes from the first two days.

SMU will return to the course on March 16-18 in Austin for the Betsy Rawls Invitational.
