In a mid-week match-up, the No. 39 SMU men’s tennis team hosts No. 5 Baylor today at the Bent Tree Country Club. The Mustangs are coming off a 1-1 road trip, while the Baylor Bears most recently went 2-1 in Chicago Feb. 16-18. SMU is 4-3, and Baylor is 8-2 for the season.
Baylor’s roster includes four Top 100 players with No. 25 Michal Kokta leading the team. Fellow nationally ranked Bears include Lars Poerschke at No. 28, Dominik Mueller at No. 91 and Matija Zgaga at No. 100. Kokta and Mueller are also ranked No. 50 in doubles.
SMU has one ranked player, No. 43 Alex Skrypko. The junior plays No. 1 singles and has paired with senior Federico Murgier in doubles twice this season for a record of 1-1. The Mustangs continue their season March 4, hosting Virginia Commonwealth University.
