A Night at the Club, co-sponsored by Student Activities and New Student
Orientation and Student Support, will be held Aug. 24 from 8-10 p.m. in
Dedman Center for Lifetime Sports.

The event provides students with an opportunity to see what organizations SMU’s campus has to offer. A Night at the Club is held the day students come back from Mustang Corral making it a fun thing to do after returning to campus.

Lauren Chapman, assistant director of student activities, believes it is particularly important for first-year students to attend A Night at the Club because it is the best way to discover student organizations.

“Being involved in a club or organization during college increases a student’s likelihood to persist to the second year, make good grades and have a positive experience overall,” Chapman said.

At A Night at the Club, students should plan on signing up for email lists of clubs they are interested in and collecting information about organizations they want to learn more about. It also gives students a chance to talk to the officers of each organization.

Retail Club President Mackenna Scripps, is looking forward to Retail Club’s station at A Night at the Club.

“I think Night at the Club is a great event for freshmen to attend because it
shows them all the many ways to get involved on campus, meet new people and be
a part of something they enjoy,” Scripps said.
