A fire alarm was set off Wednesday afternoon in the Maguire building, located in the Cox School of Business. Students, faculty, and staff were evacuated from the building promptly while the University Park Fire Department investigated the situation.

The fire department declared the building safe and classes were resumed 30 minutes into the investigation.

“The alarm was triggered by a faulty elevator,” said University Park Fire Department’s Lieutenant Abel. “The elevator will be shut down and maintenance has been notified.”
