Equestrian team looks toward end of season

The Mustangs are looking to qualify for the Varsity Equestrian National Championships and have only two more competitions before then.

The first will be this weekend when SMU travels to Athens, Ga. to face the Georgia Bulldogs.

The equestrian team is coming off a third-place finish in the Best of the West meet held in Fresno, Calif. at the home of Fresno State. Six teams competed, and the Mustangs took second in their bracket and third overall.

In just its fourth season, the SMU equestrian team has gone 2-4 in head-to-head competitions, defeating TCU and Delaware State. The Mustangs also took home Reserve Championships both days of the IHSA Show in San Antonio.

After traveling to Georgia, the Mustangs will finish the regular season at home against the South Carolina Game Cocks on April 1 at the Flower Mound Equestrian Center.
