Colt Knost tied for second place in his third Pinehurst Classic on Tuesday, helping SMU to a fifth-place team finish. In the final round, Knost shot an even-par 72 after carding a 71 and 72 in the first two rounds (215 total).
He finished two strokes behind Jorge Campillo of Indiana, who finished the tournament at 3-under-par. Bill Rankin of the University of Michigan tied for second with Knost.
SMU’s Scott Barton (71-77-77-225) tied for 25th place while Scott Sikes (75-75-75-228) tied for 38th.
The Mustangs return to the green for the Robert Kepler Invitational on April 13 in Columbus, Ohio.
