Women’s soccer winless on road trip to Colorado and El Paso

The women’s soccer team dropped a pair of weekend contests on the road as the Mustangs (2-7-0, 0-2-0 Conference USA) prepare for their conference home opener this week against Rice.

When the Mustangs took on Colorado College (6-3-1, 2-0-0) Friday evening, the Tigers’ Kelly Lavoie scored back-to-back goals in the opening minutes to put SMU down 2-0.

Freshman forward Ryanne Lewis then scored her first career goal to cut the deficit to 2-1 going to halftime.

But Colorado College’s Tiffany Brown helped her team pull away with two second-half goals, leading the Tigers to a 4-1 win.

On Sunday against the University of Texas-El Paso (8-2-0, 2-0-0), the Mustangs outshot the Miners, 13-11, but could not score against goalkeeper Chandra Morden, and they fell, 2-0.
