Fire not that unlikely
Dear Editor:
Austin Kilgore complains about a 6:30 a.m. fire drill, partly onthe ground that a fire is really unlikely at that time.
I’m long past the time of living in dorms.
But when I was a graduate student at Cornell a fire did breakout in a residence hall about 6:30 one fine spring morning. Ninestudents died from smoke inhalation. Enough said.

Dear Editor:
Just curious. Does anyone ever edit The Daily Campus articlesfor spelling, punctuation, grammatical and usage errors? I thinknot, because the front page of today’s paper is rife withmistakes. Looking at the remainder of the paper is too scary tocontemplate.
Please don’t think I’m a grump who doesn’tknow what she’s talking about. I have an English degree fromSMU and was an English teacher. I was also director of corporatecommunications for some sizeable companies before changing careersand coming back to the university.
