Intramurel showdown between Pike and Fiji

Déjà vous? This year’s big fraternity game in flag football is again Phi Kappa Alpha (5-0) vs. Phi Gamma Delta (5-0).

Last year, Fiji beat Pike in the regular season but in the end Pike returned the favor in the playoffs.

This year’s two teams matchup well. Fiji is averaging a little more than 22 points per game while Pike is averaging more than 20 points per game. Both teams have held their opponents only to 19 points total.

Pike captain Rob Presthus thinks that their chances of beating Fiji are good.

“I think if we can put enough pressure on their quarterback we have good shot of winning,” Presthus said.

Pike has several speedy defenders to do just that, and if their quarterback is on, it should be a close game.

“Hopefully our quarterback will show up in the right mindset and we should get things done offensively,” Presthus said.

This game is starting to build a lot of history between the two fraternities. Greek as well as non-greek students have shown up for this match-up and a lot are planning to go to this one.

“I went last year and it was fun watching two good teams play each other,” junior Scott Eidman said.

The battle for bragging rights among fraternities begins at 10 p.m. on Thursday at the intramural field.
