SMU Women’s Center is celebrating their 50th annual Women’s Symposium on Wednesday, March 4, 2015. The theme this year is We’ve Shaped Our History: Let’s Create Our Future! The Symposium’s keynote speaker is Lilly Ledbetter, a spokesperson for equal pay and women’s rights who has fought to close the gender pay gap for 10 years.
Emmie Baine, the late SMU Dean of Women, initiated the gathering in 1966 as a way to inform SMU students and the community about the evolving role of women in society. The Symposium is the oldest continuously running program of its kind in the country and attracts hundreds of leaders, students and faculty each year.
Registration for the Symposium is open until February 25, 2015. For more information about the Symposium, visit the Women’s Center’s website.
