It’s the must have accessory for every college student: Sunglasses.
They are essential when walking across campus on those super hot and sunny Texas afternoons. There are a wide variety of sunglasses to choose from.
The trends that have been in for the past couple of seasons are the oversized and aviator frames. Celebrities from Jennifer Lopez to Mary-Kate Olsen have been spotted wearing these hot shades. Investing in a pair of nice sunglasses is a must if you spend a lot of time walking around campus in the glaring Texas sunlight.
Chanel makes absolutely fabulous sunglasses that range from $200-$500. One of their newest pairs are large and black, with rounded square lenses and huge sliver C’s (the Chanel trademark) on the side. This hot pair cost $330.00.
A new release from Gucci is the buckle sunglass. These frames come in black and brown, with silver or gold buckles on the sides. This hot pair starts at $275. Or you could opt for more classic Gucci shield sunglasses in a multitude of colors, with the signature silver or gold Gucci cutout on the side of the frames for around $250 a pair.
Some other great sunglass designers include Prada, Michael Kors, Dolce & Gabbana and Dior all ranging around $200 and up. And for those of us who have Neiman Marcus taste on a Target budget, there are still great options to choose from.
Speaking of Target, they have really cute sunglasses that range from $10 to $30. Isaac Mizrahi, designer to Hollywood’s hottest stars, started a line of affordable versions of his runway looks. His line of inexpensive clothing and accessories are available at Target. Also, Nordstrom sells all the latest sunglasses styles and colors for only $10, really. If you check the juniors department, they have tables and walls full of fierce frames.
Don’t worry gentlemen, I didn’t forget about y’all. Some great men’s sunglass designers (whose designs don’t look too feminine,) include Ray-Ban starting at $179, Diesel for $21, and Emporio Armani starting around $200. A sunglasses trend for men right now is rocking unisex, even ladies’ frames. Now, guys I know what you are thinking- no way, right?
Take this into consideration if you like the hip-hop look: where do you think celebrities like TI and 50 Cent get those huge rock star style frames with rhinestones spelling out a famous designer or their logo? They’re either unisex or just women’s frames. So you see, you can rock unisex or women’s frames and still look 100% manly!
