STREET STYLES: how SMU students roll on their day off

SMU students know more than a thing or two about fashion. Reporters went in search of styles outside of the classroom. What do people wear on their day off? Take a look.

On Monday, we got hit by a little bit of Nordic chill. Students took to the parking garages to make the best of their frigid day off.

The girls of SMU’s Muslim Student Association got together Saturday night after volunteering at Habitat for Humanity in the morning.
“It’s nice to use this time to welcome the new member of 2015,” said Muneerah Jemal, a junior at SMU. “Sometimes dressing up with just the girls is a lot of fun.”
Scarves may usually be used as an accessory, but for some Muslim girls, it’s both a stylish statement and a means to show modesty.

Senior Courtney Curtsinger studies studio art and creative advertising during the week, but on weekends spends time bonding with her new puppy. She named her canine companion Walter James the pug. The two prepared to set off for a leisurely walk on the Katy trail. Curtsinger expressed concern about Walter’s stamina because of his scrunched nose.

“We may just have to skip the walk and chill at Katy Trail Ice House.”
