According to the interim Libyan prime minister, Moammar Gadhafi has been captured and killed in Sirte, Libya.
The circumstances under which he was killed are still not verified. According to a CNN report, one of Gadhafi’s sons and his chief of intelligence, Abdullah al-Senussi, have also been killed.
NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen announced that the NATO alliance “will terminate our mission” in Libya.
President Obama also said in a press conference on the subject Thursday afternoon and said that his death “marks the end of a long and painful chapter for the people of Libya.” He added that the people of Libya now have the opportunity to “determine their own destiny” and form “a new and democratic Libya.”
