One of the season’s biggest trends is wearing all white. This look takes some time and consideration, but white can look amazing if worn and accessorized correctly.
We will start with the basics.
White pants, or the base of your outfit, is the most important part of your all-white ensemble. The key here, as I always say, is great fit. White has the tendency to make you appear bigger than you actually are if it’s not worn right. Make sure the pant has a slim boot-cut fit. You don’t want anything that flares out too much because that makes the pant look dated, Ã la John Travolta in “Saturday Night Fever.”
Next, make sure they are the right length. If you are going for the chic look be sure they reach the floor with your heels on! Nothing looks worse than high-water white pants that aren’t made to be that length.
There are a variety of pant lengths that you can wear with your newly discovered white look. If you want to go for the Bermuda short, the same rules apply, and they stop right above the knee. If you are going for the cropped pant, you can opt for a looser fit in a light, breezy material, such as linen, to give it that beachy look. Another option is a pair of white short-shorts; the only rule here is to make sure they are loose-fitting and have some cute details such as cuffs, colored piping or cutesy pockets.
Another great white base is a skirt. There are not too many rules here; just keep it classy. Some options are chic pencil skirts, cute A-line skirts or even long bohemian-inspired skirts.
Next comes the shirt. Before picking a shirt, you need to decide what kind of look you want to achieve. If you want the chic out-on-the-town/business causal look, you can pair your white pants with a neatly pressed button-down blouse or a white blazer with a white camisole. To add some extra flare to this outfit you can pair it with some funky colored jewelry- any color will match with all white. I personally prefer this look with turquoise jewelry, very natural make-up and a pair of colored or metallic heels, which give this outfit a light and breezy look.
If you want an all-white night look, it’s best to wear a pair of white shorts or pants with a feminine flowy halter-top. The all-white shows sophistication, but the flirty halter dresses it down and makes it nighttime appropriate. Metallic accessories look very stylish with an all-white nighttime look. Try a pair of big earrings, some bracelets and a pair of metallic heels.
If you want a more casual look try wearing a pair of white, loose fitting Capri pants or Bermuda shorts with a white camisole, a white cotton tank top or a loose-fitting button-up with the sleeves rolled up. This way you will look very casual and effortlessly chic.
