It’s official: Fall Semester 2015 has officially begun. For some, the thrill of interesting classes and new school supplies are still motivating enough to get out of bed in the morning. But for most, this third week marks the end of something beautiful and the beginning of never ending chapters and long nights spent in Club Fondy. So, as the stress compiles, do what every successful college student would do: start a new series on Netflix.
For those of you who enjoy the cult-tastic series such as “Friends” and Grey’s Anatomy,” feel free to try other fan favorites such as “Gossip Girl” and “Friday Night Lights.” But for those of you willing to be bold and adventurous (or if you’re a diehard fan of “House of Cards” like myself), try Netflix’s newest and most popular original series:
1. “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt”
After emerging from the underground cult she lived with for 15 years, Kimmy Schmidt (aka Erin from “The Office” or the goody two-shoes Becca from “Bridesmaids”) takes on the Big Apple with simply a backpack and light up sneakers, looking to find her way in a world she did not think existed anymore.
Must watch for those who like: “30 Rock,” “Friends” and creator Tina Fey.
2. “Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp”
Set as the prequel to the 2001 comedy “Wet Hot American Summer,” campers Andy (Paul Rudd), Susie (Amy Poehler), and Ben (Bradley Cooper) arrive at Camp Firewood as young teens. Each episode fills in the backstory to show how the crazy antics all began for the movie’s cult following.
Must watch for those who like: “Wet Hot American Summer” and all-star comedic casts.
3. “Bloodline”
From the creators of the hit show “Damages” comes the thrilling series about the hardworking Rayburn family from the Florida Keys. Actor Kyle Chandler plays long lost son John who returns for his parents wedding anniversary, revealing past secrets and opening old wounds.
Must watch for those who like: anything and everything Kyle Chandler.
4. “Narcos”
This instant Netflix sensation takes viewers back to Medellin, Colombia in the 1980s, birthplace of what was to become one of the most infamous drug cartels of all time. Chronicling the life of smuggling mastermind Pablo Escobar and his fight against the United States Drug Enforcement Agency, this series is an absolute must.
Must watch for those who like: “Breaking Bad” and “Sons of Anarchy.”
5. Marvel’s “Daredevil”
Although he can no longer see due to a childhood accident, Matt Murdock uses his new superhuman senses to fight crime in the New York City neighborhood Hell’s Kitchen. As the inspiration for Marvel’s newest Netflix series Jessica Jones, the comic series fans are sure to fall in love with this one.
Must watch for this who like: superheroes.
So, whether you are looking for a six hour long procrastination break or a Sunday afternoon study buddy, check out one of these addicting new series.
