Read what you wrote

This article is in response to a commentary entitled “Why I chose to be a child of God” from the April 29 issue of The Daily Campus.

Matthew,

Your article in Tuesday’s paper is very misguided, offensive and simply inaccurate. It is very disappointing that a student with ‘”homosexual thoughts” would write something like this.

Do you honestly believe that you are going to be a happy individual without being who you were born to be? You are setting yourself up for a disastrous road if you plan to live your life as a heterosexual when you are not.

At some point in every person’s life, he or she must come to terms with who he or she is, and stop living life based on what other people believe. Maybe now is the time for you to question what you believe. If you read the Bible, then you should know that it is riddled with inconsistencies and passages that contradict the basic ideal of what is Christian.

For your own sake, I would take a step back and ask yourself if the people who are helping you “deny your feelings” are really your friends. Do you really believe you are going to be a mentally and spiritually healthy individual living this way and sharing these ideas of self-censorship and self-denial?

I am very, very saddened by your point of view as it shows a complete misunderstanding of self.

You are obviously not happy, or you would not have written such a self-torturing article. Read what you wrote. Matthew, you are not convincing anyone of your position; in fact, is sounds like you are still trying to convince yourself. Sadly, that won’t happen unless you abandon your “God-given” intellect. Man, be yourself. Those who judge you were never your friends anyway. If you believe in God, then you know he will love you no matter what.
