How are you commemorating the Centennial Celebration at Southern Methodist University? With a t-shirt? An Instagram picture? How about celebrating the hundredth anniversary of SMU with over 400 recipes from the university’s top foodies? That’s a much tastier idea.
Over 100 contributors have helped create “Hilltop Courses: Then and Now.” The cookbook is a melting pot of ideas and recipes from multiple generations. Now there is no excuse for not having a delicious new recipe for game day or Thanksgiving.
The recipes come from SMU faculty, students, parents and alumni. Former First Lady Laura Bush’s recipe for Cowboy Cookies is included in the cookbook as well. Bush was a student at SMU and graduated in 1968.
The book is divided into eight sections, one for each school at SMU and a section with Boulevarding recipes. The cover is a watercolor by “First Lady” Gail Turner, wife of President R. Gerald Turner.
“Hilltop Courses: Then and Now” can be found online or at the SMU bookstore at 3060 Mockingbird Lane. Proceeds from the sales benefit the SMU Women’s Club Scholarship Fund.
