The SMU cross country team is continuing to place high in invitationals: this past weekend at the Chile Pepper Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark. the team finished fifth out of a total of 34 teams.
Four Mustangs finished in top-25 overall out of 267 runners. Leading the pack was junior Silje Fjortoft, who finished seventh with a time of 21:07.30. Freshman Mary Alenbratt was the second Mustang in, placing 13th with a time 21:28.25, while freshman Veronika Blom was 19th at 21:36.35. Freshman Sara Sjokvist was the final Mustang in the top-25; she finished 21st at 21:37.67.
The next time the Mustangs take the field will be at the conference championships, where they will look to defend their title.
