After rain delays on Oct. 12, the SMU men’s golf team competed in the 24th annual Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate in Birmingham, Ala. on Oct. 13.
The team finished eighth out of 12 teams represented. The SMU team is composed of 10 men, one of which was recently ranked as the number one college golfer according to GolfWeek, junior Kelly Kraft.
Kraft was also named Conference USA golfer of the week in September. The team, unlike last season, only has one freshman addition; there are currently 6 sophomores.
The Mustangs are ranked No. 15 in the nation according to GolfWeek and the Nike Golf Divison 1 Coaches Poll.
The Mustangs will next golf relatively close to home in San Antonio, TX in the Lone Star Invitational on October 18-19 against UT-San Antonio.
