The SMU men’s and women’s basketball teams welcomefans into Moody Coliseum tonight beginning at 10:30 p.m. for thefirst annual Midnight Madness event.
Several other SMU organizations including the Mustang band,cheer squad and dance team will be on hand for entertainment.
Action Jackson, a DJ from 97.9 The Beat, will emcee the eventwhich will also feature a student slam dunk contest, a studentfreestyle rap contest, door prizes and an autograph session withplayers.
The teams will take the floor at 12:01 p.m. where newmen’s Head Coach Jimmy Tubbs will introduce his first Mustangsquad and women’s Head Coach Rhonda Rompola will introduceher 14th squad.
The team practices will include a three-point competition forthe women and a dunk contest for the men. The event will concludewith a men’s team scrimmage.
The SMU basketball season begins with a double-header with thewomen taking the floor at 6 p.m. Nov. 19 against Sam Houston St.and the men following against UT-Tyler at 8:30 p.m.
