Naomi Oreskes, Ph.D. and professor of history and science at Harvard University, will speak at Dedman College’s annual Allman Family Lecture at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 29 in Dallas Hall’s McCord Auditorium.
The author of several books on climate change, environmental science and vaccines, Oreskes argues that scientists’ assertions about the reality and truthfulness of such subjects are truthful. Scientists tell society that climate change is legitimate and vaccines are safe, but how do they determine that? Are opposite, anti-scientific views valid too? Her lecture will explain why scientific findings are trustworthy.
A reception will precede the lecture at 5:30 p.m.
