SMU Embrey Human Rights Program is hosting Roots of Migration: Contemporary Challenges on Saturday, Oct. 24. The event will be held in Hughes Trigg at 1 p.m.
The Embrey Human Rights Program hopes to bring awareness and “expose the core of migration in our global community, and explore local possibilities,” according to their Facebook page.
Immigration can be a sensitive topic. In light of the 2016 presidential election, immigration laws are part of the discussion the candidates focus on. It is important to be educated on this issue because it affects so many people that have family or friends that have been affected by immigration.
If you’re interested in learning more about this issue, come to the discussion to hear from “local and national migration and immigration activists, professionals, active students, artists, and educators”.
It will be a chance for the SMU community to come together and learn about this crucial topic.
