Online retailer of precious metals, JM Bullion, struck gold at Dallas 100’s award ceremony Wednesday evening at the Omni Hotel. The Dallas-based company has come a long way since its inception in a garage in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
The company was named to the top spot at the annual awards ceremony presented by SMU’s Caruth Institute. The entrepreneurial event celebrated 25 years of ranking 100 of Dallas’s fastest growing privately held companies.
“The event is a statement of the city’s durability and entrepreneurial spirit,” said Larry King, co-founder of Dallas 100.
Dallas 100 was created in 1990 to recognize the emerging business community in the north Texas. Companies chosen must be privately owned and have a 3-year sales history showing significant growth. Those that made the list range from technology companies, medical practices, design studios, and law firms.
This year’s top 100 companies collectively generated $3.6 billion dollars in sales in 2014 and the top ten recipients made up more then $1.7 billion of that total.
“It has been a great year and half,” said Matt Tyndall of JM Bullion. “Its nice to recognize the city’s phenomenal growth and pool of talent”
Companies recognized in 2015 have contributed to thousands of new jobs, increasing the tax base, and fostering North Texas’s economic development, said Caruth Institute officials.
Scott Henry, Business Development Manager of BravoTECH was happy to slip into the 100th spot.
“Its fun to be one of the smaller companies to make the top 100,” he said.
Texas Capital Bank sponsored the event for the third time. The premier business bank nominates some of its most successful clients.
“It celebrates our clients success and our relationship with the client,” said Senior Vice President of Texas Capital Bank Bill Rolley.
Recipients were cheered on with noisemakers and applause. CBS Radio’s Mike Rogers encouraged the competition by calling for noise among company tables. Global multilingual business solutions company, Akorbi, had one of the many tables decked with horns and clappers to celebrate its place on the list.
“It is validation that we are doing something
right,” said Claudia Mirza, CEO of Akorbi. “It is amazing to be part of a
community of entrepreneurs and feeling the support of your peers.”
