Harold Clark Simmons Hall, the second building for the Annette Caldwell Simmons School of Education and Human Development, opened its doors at the start of the semester.
The building was made possible following a gift of $25 million from Annette Caldwell Simmons and Harold C. Simmons in Feb. 2013. The donation will also support three newly endowed academic positions.
The three-story building on Airline Road houses the Budd Center for Involving Communities in Education, the Teacher Development Studio and the Department of Teaching and Learning.
Harold Clark Simmons Hall also includes classrooms, labs, conference rooms, and faculty and administrative offices.
In 2007, the Simmons donated $20 million to SMU, which established endowments for the school and provided funding for Annette Caldwell Simmons Hall.
