Valentine’s Day is a world-wide movement that raises awareness about female violence.

To bring awareness to SMU’s campus, the Women’s Interest Network will perform The Vagina Monologues from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 12 and again on Saturday, Feb. 13 in the Hughes-Trigg student center.

The Vagina Monologues is a play in which different women give monologues about issues such as female sexuality and what it’s like to be a female in a patriarchal society.

“The Vagina Monologues is such a great way to start a discussion and help remove taboos associated with sex and our bodies,” said SPECTRUM president Jacob Conway.

Students can purchase tickets for the event outside of Hughes-Trigg for $5 throughout the week.

Tickets purchased at the door will cost $7 for students.
