Fox News reported that the number of people moving from California to Texas is the highest it’s been in a decade.
Reports from the Internal Revenue Service show that more than 250,000 Californians moved out the state in 2013-2014 and 33,626 of the reports filed had address changes from California to Texas.
Texas has been the number one state Californians move to since 2007, Fox reported.
California is also the leading state contributing to SMU’s student population aside from Texas, according to SMU’s website.
California’s taxes and regulations on businesses could be the reason behind this. It’s easier for smaller businesses to grow in Texas, as Rick Perry pointed out in an ad campaign in 2013 inviting Californian entrepreneurs to come give Texas a shot.
Or, maybe it’s because more people are finding out about these 41 Texas facts from Buzzfeed, like the state motto is friendship and it’s legal to shoot and kill Bigfoot.
