UPDATE 5:47 p.m. on Sept 29
SMU senior Jaein “Jaime” Shim was identified as the body found in Barr Pool this morning.
The 21-year-old was a senior, President’s Scholar and a member of the SMU Honors Program, according to a campus-wide email sent by the Student Affairs Office. He was from Seoul, Republic of Korea, studying English and Political Science through Dedman College.

A deceased body was found in the SMU Barr Pool Thursday morning. Here’s the latest information, what we know and what we don’t.
- The body was found by an unidentified male SMU student this morning around 9 A.M. SMU released a press release around noon.

- The body has not been identified, other than the fact that it is an SMU student.
- We don’t know the circumstances. No foul play is expected to be involved.
- The SMU Police Department and Southwestern Medical Center came on-site to examine the body. SMU Police Department and the Dallas County Medical Examiner are investigating the incident.
