Victoria Lockwood, associate professor of Anthropology passed away on Oct. 3, according to an SMU press release. The cause of death is unconfirmed and arrangements are pending at this time.
Dr. Lockwood taught several courses in the anthropology department at Dedman College, including Cultures of the Pacific Islands, Contesting Development and Gender and Globalization: Cultural and Ethical Issues.
She was also Director of the Health and Specialty Program at SMU. She served as a mentor in the McNair Scholars Program and was known for her research in economic development, globalization and evolving gender relations.
Outside of SMU, Lockwood was a fellow for the Society for Applied Anthropology.
