Sonny and Cher made a song popular back in the 1960s entitled”And the Beat Goes On.”
Britney Spears has brought that song back today with a fewdifferent lyrics. The song’s lyrics read “History hasturned the page, uh huh.” Has it?
Today, we have developed a culture of disagreement in thiscountry. In America, we seem to be taking on the cultures ofwarring tribes, or is it just a continuation of the Hatfields andMcCoys?
When I dropped my son off at his high school a week ago, Inoticed that someone had left some graffiti on the front of theschool building.
It was right between the two front doors. You couldn’tmiss it if you were walking into the building or driving down thestreet. “***** A FAG,” was still legible. A red arrowpointed to the top word. This word appeared to have been hastilycovered with a white substance of some sort.
As I drove away I wondered, is this the tolerance of our nextgeneration? Or was that graffiti actually written by the nextgeneration?
There is so much debate out there over the gay marriage issue. Iwill leave comment against that issue to Rush Limbaugh …from the right.
Questions I do not hear anyone asking, are why do men want tomarry men? Why do women want to marry women?
I understand the benefits and rights issues as a partner.
However, it would seem to me the question should be, what hashappened in our society to cause men and women not to want to marryeach other?
A local Christian radio station on Mondays has a “MercyMonday” segment. Christian spouses call in and ask for mercyfor something they have done to or against their beloved. It is aneducation.
Isn’t it interesting the things our society fights overtoday? The money that is spent on commissions to determine inhindsight what someone should have done in foresight.
I would like to believe that each generation corrects the wrongsof the previous generation. Way back in the 1960’s, beforecolor, when everything was still in black and white, we certainlythought the previous generation was square.
Tom Brokaw has written a book describing that generation as thebest generation.
Our children today, walk through metal detectors just to enterschool. At the age of 13 they carry backpacks with bomb makingnotes in them.
They are choosing to live together prior to marrying at an evenhigher rate than in the ‘60s, when the world was still blackand white. They do not seem to respect the”institution” of marriage. Who set the example forthem? Perhaps marriage should not be referred to as aninstitution.
How can you refer to the sanctity of marriage when so many godlymen are being found in liaisons with women other than theirwives?
A great deal of time is being spent arguing the basis of gaymarriage or the deviance of it. Why not expend that effort to fightthe deviance of child pornography?
Firemen, pediatricians and Christian ministers are involved inthat deviance, yet our law enforcement seems to be battling thatproblem alone.
W.W.J.D., (What Would Jesus Do) was a popular phrase in the pastdecade. Wearing this acronym was meant to be a cause for pause.Upon reading these letters, the phrase was to bring to mind Christ, and you were to think prior to acting.
Jesus Christ was a Jew, who exhibited great compassion, tolerance, love and peace. He gave his life so others could havelife.
Do you think Jesus would use spray paint to expressintolerance?
And the beat goes on. Yes the beat goes on.
