Honored students, faculty and staff came out to the Hughes-TriggBallroom Monday night for SMU’s Awards Extravaganza.

University awards, including the prestigious “M”Awards, Outstanding Faculty Teaching Awards and the PresidentialAwards of Excellence are given out at this annual event.

SMU students Lyndsey Hummert and T.K. Stillman emceed the event.SMU alumnus Rev. Michael Waters began the evening with aninvocation.

Student Body President Thomas Kincaid gave a “State of theUniversity” address.

The “M” Award is the most highly coveted recognitionbestowed upon students, faculty, staff and administrators on theSMU campus, according to the event’s Web page. Turner handedout these awards.

“The ‘M’ Awards recipients are an inspirationto others, giving unselfishly to SMU to make it a betterplace,” Turner said.

Erika Beckles, Guy Bellaver, Michael Dorff, Richard Ferry, BrittMoen, Elizabeth Nguyen, Andrew Novak, Dustin Odham, Sabeena Rahmanand Allison Segal received the “M” Awards.

Faculty and staff members Betsy Bayer, Lillian Lovelady, TommyJones, Dr. Curt McIntyre and Dr. Dennis Simon also received theaward.

The evening concluded with a singing of the alma mater”The Varsity.” A dessert reception followed.
