Ripped from the headlines, Compliance tells the true story of the lengths one fast food manager goes to comply with authority.
When a no-nonsense cop calls into a suburban fast food restaurant claiming that Becky, a young employee played by Dreama Walker, has stolen a large amount of money from a customer, the store’s manager Sanda, played stiocly by Ann Dowd is forced to confine Becky into the store’s back room and take orders from the faux police force.
The events in Complaince quickly escalate as Sandra and company fall deeper into the criminal’s mind games and ultimately hold Becky against her will.
When Compliance first screened for test audeinces, there were multiple reports of numerous walk outs. Considering the shocking (and true) events that Becky undergoes while being held captive at work, one can understand audience frustration.
As today’s horror movies diminish into cliched odes to the genre’s better years, Compliance proves that a true story can scare more than any demon-possessed teen can.
Compliance opens at the Angelika Dallas Friday.
