The ninth-ranked women’s swimming and diving team blewNorth Texas out of the water Wednesday night, defeating the MeanGreen by a score of 158-80, and taking first in 11 of 13events.
Senior Dallas Marshall led the Mustangs’ charge, winningthe 200 free by a time of 1:52.73. She also led her teammates to avictory in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:47.23. FellowPony, Marizanne Grundlingh, also accounted for a pair of wins forSMU, taking the 500 free with a time of 4:55.72, and the 200individual medley, posting a 2:05.72 mark in the event.
Other Mustangs who recorded wins included freshman MichelleVlasakova, sophomores Sara Nordenstam, Celina Lemmen, andall-Americans Georgina Lee and Andrea Cassidy.
Standout diver Kristin Schild also came away victorious in boththe one- and three-meter events.
The only wins for North Texas included freshman HeatherPage’s mark of 1:11.55 in the 100-yard breaststroke, and avictory in the 200-yard freestyle relay.
With the victory, SMU improves their record to 1-1 on theseason. The Ponies face second-ranked Georgia and Arkansas inAthens, Ga. on January 24.
