At the SMU women’s basketball banquet, team awards were handed out and C-USA honorees were recognized as the squad celebrated its 18-12 season.
Sharree Shepherd, a junior guard, was given the team’s Heart Award. For the second consecutive year, junior forward and post Janielle Dodds was named the team’s MVP and received a basketball, commemorating her 1,000th career point.
Earning the SMU Defensive Award was freshman post Alice Severin, while Delisha Wills, also a freshman, was given the SMU Rebounding Award.
Dodds and Wills also garnered conference awards. Dodds was named to the 2nd team All-Conference and Wills made the C-USA All-Freshman team. Teammates Severin, Shepherd and Catherine Campbell were all named to the C-USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll this season as well.
