Letter to the Editor

If I were a SMU alum and the university agreed to house the Bush library, I would return my degree. It’s not that Bush is conservative.

For me, it would be hard to find a president who:

(1) was more disdainful of policy research

(2) was more anti-intellectual and anti-learning in general

(3) did more to restrict access to presidential papers. The university would be much better served if it tried to build its reputation the old fashioned way–through academic excellence.
