Engaged Learning announces Unbridled Projects for 2012-2013

Thirty-seven undergraduates were chosen to participate in the Engaged Learning program’s Unbridled Project.

The students will work on their projects throughout the fall semester. These projects will go beyond classroom learning and into categories of research, civic engagement, internships and creative pursuits.

This group of students will be working in countries across the globe including Bangladesh, Belgium, Ecuador, England, Ethiopia, France, Guatemala, Italy, Nicaragua, Rwanda and the United States.

Sixteen students were chosen for the research category: Eric Alt, Jan Anderson, Tanya Arora, Jean Paul Destarac, Brittney Dickey, Roza Essaw, Taylor Johnson, Andrew Lin, Katharina Marino, Kathleen Masterson, Austin McBride, Justice Pirkey, Basma Raza, Jacqueline Ross, Dung Michael Tran and Katie Ye.

Twelve students were chosen for the civil engagement category: Aden Abiye, Juan Castillo, Drake Frank, Katie Jones, Jonathan Machemehl, Kimberly Mendoza, Pamela Nickell, Richard Nixon, Mayra Pratz, Rachel Stonecipher, Ashley Wali and Miller Walker.

Afomia Hailemeskel, Janielle Kastner, Miranda Parham, Ethan Patrick and Dylan Smith will work on their projects this upcoming fall under creative work.

Lastly, Bryce Johnson, Jaywin Malhi, Sarah Montonchaikul and junior Marissa Ocampo will work on projects in the internships category.

Students will present their work on Jan. 24, 2013 and then their work will be published in the Central University Library’s Engaged Learning Collections during summer 2013.
