Letter to the Editor

Dear Daily Campus,

While standing in the to-go line at La Madeleine today, I picked up a copy of the January 28th issue of The Daily Campus and began reading the editorial, “Home Court Advantage. Why we’re nostalgic about Moody Coliseum.” You all nailed it when you called the light board hanging in the corner of Moody a, “Lite Bright on steroids.” I absolutely died laughing when I read that, causing a few of my fellow chicken Caesar salad junkies to cast curious looks in my direction. I also took particular notice of our “Lite Bright” at the SMU vs. UTEP game and thought to myself how embarrassingly dated and dinky it looked. Not only that, the slogans and messages that are displayed are equally humiliating. Remember the old Batman and Robin TV series from the 1960’s? During the fight scenes, every time Batman or Robin would land a punch on some evil villain, giant words like, “Zowie!” and “Kapow!” written inside spiky-edged shapes would come flying onto the screen. I swear that’s what our juiced Lite Bright looks like. Oh well, I guess it is sort of cool in a retro kind of way. Maybe we ought to check out the prices on eBay for vintage light boards. It might be worth something. Then we could sell it and buy a giant screen that could hang there for another 30 years until this same discussion starts again.
